The Archeological Museum Lavinium of Pomezia has been founded in 2005.
The first scientific proposal to the public has been the exibition “Hic Domus Aeneae” (March-October 2005), dedicated to the mithy figure of Enea that of Lavinium would be the founder.
Finally some of most prestigious vestiges, for many years exposed in other Museums or quite conserved in the warehouses, they are actually exposed to public thanks to the interest manifested from the town council of Pomezia to know and to value the archaeological and historical patrimony.
The shown vestige and the multimendia's tecnologies infrastructure emphasize the aura of religiosity that it encircled the ancient Latium center, is, in fact, the great sanctuaries of Minerva and XIII the altars, this last one connected to the Enea's Heroon, the main topics of the Museum and they are organized in order to have the visitors involved in a operation of cultural mediation that could be defined “ Exibition of a myth ".
The opening of the town council Museum and of the archaeological area of the “Thirteen Are and the Enea's Heroon”, made under the aegis of the Soprintendenza for the Archaeological Assets of the Lazio, constitutes the start for an integrated program of initiatives that will concur ahead from now in the insertion of Lavinium in the national cultural panorama not more restricted to the scecialist of this branch.
The Museum that is close to the ancient city and the evocative Village of Pratica di mare, heir of Lavinium in the Middle age, offers the possibility to participate to guided visits, even thematic, it organizes showrooms, vernissage and conferences; it develops plans for didactic laboratories in collaboration with the teaching staff. Through the Museum it is possible to have information in order to approach to the main city archaeological areas and round-about.

The Museum is situated in the territory of the city of Pomezia that is found little more than 20 Km from Rome and to approximately 40 km from Latin.
The Museum is located in the locality of Pratica di Mare in via of Pratica, to approximately 150 meters from the Village of Pratica di mare.
The Museum's parking is available for car, motorbike e small vehicle, while the coach finds space in front of the Village of Pratica.
